There are a handful of intriguing fights leading into the two flyweight championships at the top of the card this Saturday night in Las Vegas. UFC 255’s main card includes a rematch between Mauricio Rua and Paul Craig after the two fought to a draw last year, a bout between two of the top women’s flyweights in the UFC in Katlyn Chookagian and Cynthia Calvillo, and what should be an exciting bout between two aggressive welterweights in Mike Perry and Tim Means.

Mike Perry (14-6-0) snapped out of a 2-5 slump in June with a decision win over Mickey Gall. Tim Means (30-12-1) is also coming into this fight off of a win after defeating Laureno Staropoli in August. The odds on Perry have dropped after he failed to make weight for this bout and tweeted about his recent struggles, calling into question his commitment in the octagon and what type of mental and physical form he’ll be in. But even before people started betting against Perry, Means already had some value as an underdog in this fight. Perry undoubtedly has the power edge in this one, but Means has a solid reach advantage and better striking defense. Look for Means to keep Perry at bay and to earn enough points to pick up the upset win.

Cynthia Calvillo (9-1-1) looked great in her return to the flyweight division in June when she dominated Jessica Eye en route to a unanimous decision win. She will likely earn herself a title shot if she can defeat Katlyn Chookagian (14-4-0) this Saturday. Chookagian was 13-2 with a 5-1 record over her previous six fights when she earned a title shot against Valentina Shevchenko that resulted in a knockout loss. Since then, she has defeated Antonina Shevchenko and lost to Jessica Andrade. The value in this fight is on Chookagian as an underdog. Calvillo doesn’t have the striking ability that Shevchenko and Andrade do. She is a superior wrestler that could certainly win this fight if she can keep it on the mat. But Chookagian will have a clear edge in the striking game and has a clear path to victory if she can keep the fight standing up. We’ll take a shot.
