Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou betting preview
Stipe Miocic (20-3-0) handed Francis Ngannou (15-3-0) the first loss of his UFC career when they last met at UFC 220 back in January of 2018. Ngannou gets a second shot at the UFC Heavyweight Championship when he takes on Miocic in the main event of UFC 260 in Las Vegas this Saturday night.
Miocic suffered his only loss since 2014 against Daniel Cormier at UFC 226 when he found himself on the wrong end of a shocking knockout. The Ohio native regained his title at UFC 241 with a knockout win over Cormier and followed that up with another victory over Cormier at UFC 252 to perhaps cement his legacy as the greatest heavyweight champion in UFC history. Miocic is 8-1 over his last nine fights with six knockouts, four Performance of the Night awards and four successful title defenses. His win over Ngannou gave Miocic the record for the most consecutive defenses of the UFC Heavyweight Championship in promotion history at three.
Ngannou tore through the UFC roster with a 6-0 record (five knockouts, one submission) to earn his title shot against Miocic at UFC 220. He lost that bout and his next fight to Derrick Lewis in July of 2018. Since then, Ngannou has been on an absolute tear with four straight knockout wins in under 75 seconds each. His wins over Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik have lasted an average of 40.5 seconds per match. Each of Ngannou’s last eight wins have come in less than two minutes.

This is one of those UFC main events that makes for must-see TV. Miocic is the more polished fighter and would have a clear edge in wrestling should this bout make its way to the mat, but Ngannou’s brutal striking ability and massive power make him a threat to stop any bout in its tracks with just one swing of his fist.
The last time these two heavyweights fought, Miocic was able to slip Ngannou’s big punches and successfully counterattack en route to the win. Has Ngannou’s game evolved enough since then for there to be a different result this time? We honestly don’t know what other tricks he might have up his sleeve or what his endurance might be like because of how thoroughly he’s dominated his last four fights. There is no questioning Ngannou’s outstanding athleticism and power, but Miocic is the play as a slight underdog with online sportsbooks.
