There is an interesting non-conference matchup in the 2019 NFL season this Sunday with the 1-1 Indianapolis Colts hosting the 1-1 Atlanta Falcons.

Both teams lost their season openers and then won their last games. The Colts are still trying to deal with the sudden retirement of Andrew Luck, but they gave Jacoby Brissett a new contract on par with starting QBs and the team has moved to be more of a run-first outfit.

The Falcons looked bad in their season-opening loss and while they won their last game against the Philadelphia Eagles, they were not overly impressive. Matt Ryan got back on track in that game and while he has the weapons on the outside, the run game has struggled.

The Colts got into the win column with a 19-17 win over the Tennessee Titans in their last game. They only had 288 total yards but held the Titans to only 242 yards and rushed for 167 yards.

Brissett passed for only 146 yards but had three TD and one INT and T.Y. Hilton led Indy with 43 receiving yards. Jordan Wilkins had 82 rushing yards with 55 coming on one play and lead back Malon Mack only had 51 rushing yards, averaging a pretty weak 2.6 yards per carry.

The Colts are still trying to find their way on offense, and they will look to pound the ball on the ground again in this game.

The Falcons beat the Eagles 24-20 at home in their last outing. While Atlanta did force three turnovers, they also had three themselves and needed a 54-yard TD from Julio Jones on a fourth down with just over two minutes left to win the game.

Ryan was big with 320 passing yards and while he had three TD, he also accounted for all of the turnovers with three interceptions. Jones had 106 receiving yards and Calvin Ridley had 105.

The Falcons have not been able to get the ground game going this season and they only rushed for 57 yards in the Eagles game. Ito Smith led the team with 32 rushing yards, while Devonta Freeman only had 22 rushing yards on 11 carries and only has 41 rushing yards on the season.

Ryan will be facing a Colts team that played a pretty good pass defense in their last game but gave up 310 passing yards in their opening loss to the LA Chargers.
