No.12 seed Taylor Fritz takes on No.20 seed Frances Tiafoe in an all-American US Open semi-final on Friday night.
Coming into New York, Fritz had nothing to show for himself on hard courts over the past six months.

He built nicely with a quarter-final in Atlanta and a semi-final in Washington before hitting top gear in Cincinnati, where he beat three top-20 players en route to his maiden Masters 1000 final.

After seeing off Aleksandr Kovacevic and Alexander Shevchenko in the first two rounds, he then prevailed against Ben Shelton before eliminating the in-form Alexei Popyrin and world No.9 Grigor Dimitrov.
