MLB American League best bets & parlay picks – June 8, 2022

Interleague play continues across Major League Baseball (MLB), with every team in action on Wednesday, June 8. Here are the best bets on the games featuring American League teams, starting at 12:35pm ET.

Texas Rangers (+130) @ Cleveland Guardians (-150)

Cleveland batters have battered Texas starter Dane Dunning in the few plate appearances they’ve had against him. The Guardians are seven-for-15 with four extra-base hits and a 1.357 OPS. You best believe the Guardians will be comfortable in the batters’ boxes.

Shane Bieber has stifled the few Rangers he’s faced, especially Mitch Garver, whom he’s struck out 10 times in 16 at-bats. He remains a rock for Cleveland, with a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 62 strikeouts in 60.2 innings pitched. He’s gone at least six innings in his last four starts, going seven most recently and eight in the previous start. He won them both, allowing just three total runs.

Expect Cleveland to get the win at home. Take them in the first five innings and on the moneyline.

Seattle Mariners (+125) @ Houston Astros (-145)

Rookie Logan Gilbert has been more than solid for Seattle. He’s been an ace, with a 2.22 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 67 strikeouts in 65 innings. Not only that, but he’s already beaten Houston this season just two starts prior to this one. He pitched seven shutout innings.

Jose Urquidy will have to be good for Houston to win, and that’s not likely, as the Mariners have hit him hard. Seattle batters are 23-for-69 with eight extra-base hits and an .838 OPS. Ty France is seven-for-15 with a double and a dinger, and Julio Rodriguez is four-of-six with a double. Urquidy hasn’t had to be great for Houston to win for him all season, however. He’s 5-2 despite a 4.76 ERA and 1.51 WHIP.

There’s a great chance the Mariners end up ahead after the first five innings, and a good chance they end up ahead after all nine innings. Houston is the best pitching team in baseball after the sixth inning, so the Mariners will want to get their scoring done against Urquidy while they have the chance. Expect them to do so.

Parlaying Seattle with Cleveland in the first five innings pays +257 with Bovada. Taking both teams on the moneyline pays +270, so lean towards the first five innings.

New York Yankees (-155) @ Minnesota Twins (+135)

The Yankees jumped all over the Twins on Tuesday, which is in keeping with the history of these two franchises. Betting on the Yankees to beat the Twins has been won of the bets that you can consistently cash over the last few decades. Regardless of history, the Yankees are the healthier and better team, and on Wednesday, they have Nestor Cortes pitching.

Cortes has handled the Twins as he’s handled just about everyone. His 1.50 ERA and 0.87 WHIP are first and third in baseball, respectively. He’s the best pitcher in the American League and maybe in all of MLB.

Chris Archer goes for Minnesota, who’s been serviceable at best, with a 3.89 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. The Yankees haven’t hit him hard, though. They’re 23-for-129 with 11 extra-base hits and a .482 OPS against Archer. Many of those at-bats occurred during Archer’s prime years in Tampa Bay. Marwin Gonzalez has had the most success, going five-for-14 with two doubles. Expect these Yankees to score despite their histories against Archer, and expect them to continue scoring on Minnesota’s bullpen, which has a 4.10 ERA in the seventh inning or later.

Making your moneyline parlay featuring Cleveland and Seattle into a trifecta with New York results in +494 odds. Taking all three teams in the first five innings pays +583, so again, lean toward the first five.
