The NFL Week 9 slate opened with a surprisingly entertaining game where the Philadelphia Eagles remained undefeated and prevailed over an inferior Texans squad. Week 9 sees six teams go to their bye week, so this isn’t the best set of games but on any given Sunday, you never know what will happen. That being said, these are our best picks and prop bets for this crucial Week 9 slate.
Cincinnati Bengals vs Carolina Panthers
This game is wholly dependent on which Bengals team shows up. Prior to last week, Cincinnati had won three straight games and were looking like the team that lost in the Super Bowl last year. However, against Cleveland, the Bengals looked horrible and lost a game they really should have won. That being said, this is a great bounce-back spot. The Panthers have been better recently but they are still 2-6. This Carolina roster is pretty devoid of talent and while they have players stepping up, they should get boat-raced by a talented Bengals team. Carolina is also 0-3 on the road this season and have played far worse away from Bank of America stadium. Take the Bengals to cover a big spread in what should be a return to normalcy for the Super Bowl runners-up a year ago.
Cincinnati Bengals -7
Los Angeles Chargers vs Atlanta Falcons
Allgeier is a rookie running back for the Atlanta Falcons who has filled in amicably for the injured Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson doesn’t expect to return for this game and that sets Allgeier up for a great matchup against a terrible Los Angeles Chargers rushing defense. The Chargers have given up nearly six yards a carry and have given up seven rushing touchdowns in seven games. Allgeier projects to get a lot of work on a run-first offense and he should have a lot of success on the ground this Sunday. At +105, his anytime touchdown odds are a great value bet.
Tyler Allgeier Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Washington Commanders vs Minnesota Vikings
Quietly, the Vikings are 6-1 and one of the best teams in the NFL. While they aren’t blowing teams out, you are what your record says you are and the Vikings are killing it. They have a timely defense and an offense filled with stars. They have what it takes to dominate the Commanders in this battle. Washington have been solid and boast a 4-4 record but they are not a great team. Washington haven’t beat a team with a winning record and the Vikings should be able to handle them, even away from home. Take Minnesota and watch them force their way into the Super Bowl conversation.
Minnesota Vikings -3
Arizona Cardinals vs Seattle Seahawks
Ever since Kliff Kingsbury took over the head coaching job for the Arizona Cardinals, the Cardinals defense cannot adequately cover the opposing tight end. They simply do not have the personnel to match up with that position and opposing tight ends have killed Arizona time and time again. This week, it’s Dissly’s turn. He would have covered this number in five of eight games and he has established himself as a solid option. While Dissly is not flashy by any means, this is a pretty safe bet consider Arizona’s pedigree and Dissly should clear the number easily.
Will Dissly Over 18.5 Receiving Yards
New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts
These teams are pretty even when it comes to their record, but anyone that has watched football this year knows the Patriots are far superior. While they have been inconsistent, the Patriots have battled injuries to key players and sit with a 4-4 record. Now, New England have a home matchup against a QB who will be making his second ever start. Advantage, Bill Belichick. In these sorts of contests, Bill Belichick usually shuts down the young QB and the Patriots coast to a victory. That shouldn’t be any different in this contest and the Pats at home is one of our favorite bets on the board.
New England Patriots -5
Miami Dolphins vs Chicago Bears
David Montgomery is the main running back for the Chicago Bears and while he isn’t super flashy, he is a very capable runner. Against a horrid Miami Dolphins rush defense, he could be in for a big day. Through eight games, Miami have given up 10 rushing touchdowns and that plays right into Montgomery’s skillset. While Monty only has two rushing touchdowns this season, he has been injured for parts of the year and has been reliable over the course of his career. He should find his way into the endzone in this contest and these odds are far too long considering the Dolphins defensive ineptitudes.
David Montgomery Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Speaking of a player taking on the Dolphins’ inept defense, Justin Fields is the quarterback for the Chicago Bears and has the same matchup as Montgomery. Fields has been rushing the ball at a higher rate in recent games and sportsbooks are yet to properly adjust his rushing prop line. Fields would have cleared this number in four of five games and he has over 80 rushing yards in two of his last three games. Until defenses prove they can stop Fields’ rushing ability, we are going to keep taking his over and he should run wild over a Dolphins defense that haven’t proven they can stop anyone.
Justin Fields Over 49.5 Rushing Yards
Kansas City Chiefs vs Tennessee Titans
Look, the Chiefs are a very good team and one of the few true Super Bowl contenders. They sit with a 5-2 record and have a great home matchup in this spot. That being said, the Titans are quietly 5-2 as well and are right up there with the Chiefs in the pantheon of elite AFC teams. While Tennessee don’t do it as smoothly as the Chiefs, they are well-coached and know how to play physical football. The Titans won’t win this game but they should be able to keep it close and this line is not giving Tennessee any credit. We understand betting against the Chiefs is a scary proposition but the Titans are better than this line suggests and they should cover in this Sunday Night feature.
Tennessee Titans +12.5
