The English Premier League returns this weekend with a number of tantalising matches lined up for Match Week 5, following the end of the first international break of the 2018/19 football season.
The first piece of Saturday’s action, perhaps as a redress for the purgatory round of international matches imposed by FIFA, will see Tottenham Hotspur play host to league leaders Liverpool in what promises to be a blockbuster encounter.
Maurizio Sarri will be looking to maintain his purple patch when Chelsea welcomes Cardiff City later in the day, whereas champions Manchester City will be at home against Fulham.
Arsenal will take their newly rejuvenated form to St. James’ Park, even as Jose Mourinho pits his side against a seemingly unshakable Watford.

Parlay leg 1 – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Liverpool
Saturday, September 15 – 12:30p.m Local time – Wembley Stadium, London, United Kingdom
Liverpool’s character will be put to test when the Reds make their way to the English capital for an epic battle with Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham. Other than for the usual bragging rights as both teams have been lauded for playing brilliant attacking football, the match will have extra poignancy due to its ultimate effect at the top of the Premier League table.
Jurgen Klopp’s charges certainly head into the match the bolder, well rounded side, as they sit at the summit of the log with four wins out of four. What’s more, the Reds have been impenetrable at the back having let in a paltry goal all season, whereas their attackers have been apocalyptic to say the least; scoring nine goals in the last four games.
Spurs on the other hand may have suffered a shock defeat in their last match, but the North Londoners will not take it lying down given that they too harbor their own title ambitions.
Prediction: Spurs or Liverpool to win at -322.58 with Bovada
Parlay leg 2 – Chelsea vs. Cardiff City
Saturday, September 15 – 3:00p.m Local time – Stamford Bridge, London, United Kingdom
In contrast to Liverpool who have been flamboyant in their cause, Chelsea have gone about their business quietly- often leaving it late- on their way to winning all four of their opening matches of the 2018/19 EPL campaign.
The exemplary start, despite having a tumultuous summer of uncertainty following the dismissal of Antonio Conte, has the Blues level on points with leaders Liverpool and third placed Watford; the separation only coming about due to the varying goal difference.
The fact that Chelsea’s match against Cardiff City will be at Stamford Bridge adds a welcome layer to the tie, as the 2017 EPL champions could well propel themselves to the top of the table with a win- should other results play to their liking.
Prediction: Chelsea to win – -357.14 with Bovada
Parlay leg 3 – Manchester City vs. Fulham
Saturday, September 15 – 3:00p.m Local time – Etihad Stadium, Manchester, United Kingdom
True to his word Pep Guardiola proved that the one-all draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers towards the tail end of August was nothing more than a meaningless stutter, as Manchester City returned back to winning ways with a 2-1 triumph over Newcastle United last time out.
The champions are currently fourth with ten points, and look set to climb higher up the table with a win, given the frailties of this weekend’s opponents.
City play host to newly promoted Fulham who are at the bottom half of the table after a win and a draw in their first four games. As such, any result other than a win for the Citizens looks unlikely given Guardiola’s bullish nature.
Prediction: Man City to win – -277.78 with Bovada

Parlay leg 4 – Newcastle United vs. Arsenal
Sunday, September 15 – 3:00p.m Local time – St James’ Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
Despite receiving a harsh welcome to life in England with successive defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea, Unai Emery followed up his first win for the club with a 3-2 victory over Cardiff in their last match.
The Spaniard’s philosophy is gradually beginning to rub off on his players, although it may take a while before his team finally reaches its apex.
Be that as it may, the Gunners could very well stretch the winning run with a trip to Newcastle United this weekend, as the Magpies are deep in the relegation tussle having collected a single point in their first four matches.
Prediction: Arsenal to win – -104.17 with Bovada
Parlay leg 5 – Watford vs. Manchester United
Saturday, September 15 – 5:30p.m Local time – Vicarage Road, Watford, United Kingdom
Watford proved their blistering start to the campaign was everything but a fluke when they pulled off a 2-1 win over Spurs to amass a historic 12 points from their four opening match of the new EPL season.
For the Hornets however, their high flying start could soon come crushing down as Jose Mourinho has a habit of raining on people’s parade.
Prediction: Man United to win – -103.09 with Bovada
