Romania will be looking to continue their impressive run at EURO 2024 when they face the Netherlands in Munich on Tuesday evening in the round of 16.
The Romanians qualified for the knockouts after surprisingly topping Group E, finishing ahead of Belgium, Slovakia and Ukraine despite all teams ending up level on four points apiece.
Romania thrashed Ukraine 3-0 in their opening match before falling 2-0 at the hands of Belgium. A 1-1 with Slovakia was enough to secure top spot.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands barely made it out of the ‘group of death’, qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams.
With four points from three games, the Oranje finished third in Group D, a point behind second-placed France and two points behind group winners Austria.
The Dutch began their campaign with a 2-1 win over Poland before registering a goalless draw with France. In their final group match, Ronald Koeman’s side fell 3-2 against Austria.
Should they win this tie, the Netherlands could be set for a quarter-final rematch with Ralf Rangnick’s men, who will take on Turkey later in the evening.
Romania will be without the suspended Nicusor Bancu after the left-back picked up two bookings in the group stage. He will be replaced by either Deian Sorescu or Vasile Mogos.
Meanwhile, the Dutch are at full strength, with coach Koeman’s only problem being that he still hasn’t found his best starting XI.
While reaching the knockout phase is a huge achievement for Romania, the top EURO 2024 betting sites have them pegged at long odds of +14900 to lift the trophy.
Meanwhile, online bookmakers are paying +1100 for the Netherlands to claim their second European Championship title.
These two sides have struggled to score goals and this could be repeated in this bout, with Nags.bet offering -108.7 for the match to have under 2.5 goals.
Cody Gakpo scored twice in the group stage and has a great chance of finding the back of the net again, with soccer betting sites offering +175 for the Dutch forward in the anytime goalscorer market.
