US Open men’s semifinal tips & predictions | September 5, 2024

The big three are all in the mix, but who will make it to the final? See our insights and top picks for Friday’s semis.

US Open tennis

Tennis superstars Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, and Jannik Sinner have all made it through to the 2025 US Open men’s semifinals, which are slated for Friday, September 5.

Alcaraz and Djokovic will add another chapter to their Grand Slam rivalry with a blockbuster clash at Arthur Ashe Stadium, while Sinner faces an intriguing clash with Canadian bolter Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Tennis betting sites have installed clear favorites in both matchups, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find some value with our US Open predictions and picks for the last four in the men’s draw.

Novak Djokovic v Carlos Alcaraz

Online bookmakers have Alcaraz pegged at -384.62 odds to reach the US Open 2025 final, and it’s easy to see why. The Spaniard is yet to drop a set this tournament, and only once has he been dragged into a tiebreaker.

Djokovic has been forced to work a little harder, going to four sets in three of his five matches. Fitness is a major concern for the 38-year-old, who has yet to reach a major final in 2025 despite making the last four at the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon.

It is worth noting Djokovic has won four of his last five matches against Alcaraz, who has never beaten the Serbian superstar on hard courts. Even so, the veteran would have to produce his absolute best to take down a five-time major winner in serious form. Expect a repeat of Alcaraz’s dominant victory in the 2024 Wimbledon final.

Jannik Sinner v Felix Auger-Aliassime

From a sports betting viewpoint, this is about as lopsided a semifinal as you will ever see. Tennis bookies have Sinner pegged at just -5000 to see off Auger-Aliassime, who is paying as much as +1600 to spring what would be an all-time upset.

That is not to say the outsider hasn’t earned his spot in the US Open semifinals. After seeing off No.3 seed Alexander Zverev and former top-five player Andrey Rublev, he came from a set down — and 2-5 down in the fourth — to win a four-hour tussle against No.8 seed Alex de Minaur in the quarters.

But this is a different kind of challenge altogether. Sinner swept aside an in-form Lorenzo Musetti in the last eight, saluting 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 while winning 91% of first-serve points. Even if the odds aren’t much, you might as well load up on the Italian superstar to win this in straight sets.
