West Indies vs Australia match preview

Australia will be looking to secure a series sweep when they face the West Indies in the third and final Test match in Kingston, starting this Saturday.

It was another bowler-friendly wicket at St George’s last week as the Australian cartel proved their quality in a 133-run victory. Aussie wicketkeeper Alex Carey was named man of the match with scores of 65 and 30, while off-spinner Nathan Lyon also impressed with match figures of 6/117.

Despite the win, questions remain around the Australian batting order. Of their top three, only Cameron Green has passed 50 this series, while the Aussies on average have lost their first three wickets for less than 40 runs. With bigger series on the horizon, the pressure is on Green, Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja to spend some time at the crease.

The West Indian batsmen are also under pressure after they collapsed in the final innings for the second consecutive Test. With their exciting bowling lineup keeping the visitors to respectable scores, the batting side will need to lift their game if they want to compete.

This is Australia’s first-ever overseas day-night Test match and their first time ever using the pink Duke ball. But given their record in Australia with the pink ball, these conditions should suit the visitors.

One player who is especially known for his performance with the pink ball is fast bowler Mitchell Starc. The left-armer is celebrating his 100th Test, so expect a couple of big moments.

West Indies team news

West Indian coach Daren Sammy has stated that 100-Test veteran Kraigg Brathwaite is vulnerable to losing his place in the side after four single-digit scores in the series so far. This leaves the likes of Mikyle Louis and Kevlon Anderson in the mix at the top of the order.

  1. Mikyle Louis
  2. John Campbell
  3. Keacy Carty
  4. Brandon King
  5. Roston Chase (c)
  6. Shai Hope (wk)
  7. Justin Greaves
  8. Anderson Phillip
  9. Alzarri Joseph
  10. Shamar Joseph
  11. Jayden Seales

Australia team news

Andrew McDonald has declared that unless an injury occurs at training, the Aussies will be fielding an unchanged lineup.

  1. Usman Khawaja
  2. Sam Konstas
  3. Cameron Green
  4. Steve Smith
  5. Travis Head
  6. Beau Webster
  7. Alex Carey (wk)
  8. Pat Cummins (c)
  9. Mitchell Starc
  10. Nathan Lyon
  11. Josh Hazlewood

West Indies vs Australia predictions

Although the Australian top order struggles have gained all the headlines, the quality throughout the lower order and the bowling attack has been too strong for the home side. The visitors have more pink ball experience than anyone, while the West Indians have looked very shaky with the bat so far. Despite little value, take the Aussies to win at -400 with top cricket betting sites.

Alex Carey is in career-best form and has looked the best of the Aussie batters on the West Indian wickets. The 33-year-old has scored two fifties, surpassing 70 match runs in both Tests so far, and you can get +175 with Stake.com for him to pass that mark once again.

With 14 wickets across the two Tests, Shamar Joseph is clearly the most dangerous bowler in the West Indian attack. He has feasted on the shaky Australian top order, while his comeback spells are just as damaging. With four or more wickets in three of the four innings so far, back Joseph to be his side’s top first-innings wicket-taker again at +275 with the best online bookmakers.
