Two matches between top-eight teams on the Bundesliga table highlight the Bundesliga Matchweek 33 betting card this week as Bayer Leverkusen visits Hoffenheim and SC Freiburg hosts Union Berlin. We’ve got plays in both of those matchups as well as Saturday’s FC Koln vs Wolfsburg game in this weekend’s Bundesliga best bets.
Bayer Leverkusen (17-7-8) picked up a second straight win on Monday with its 2-0 victory at home over Eintracht Frankfurt. Leverkusen is now 9-2-3 over its last 14 matches since going on a 3-4-4 slump in the final months of 2021. Hoffenheim (13-7-12), meanwhile, is trending in the other direction with a seven-match winless streak, falling to 0-3-4 over its last seven games with last Saturday’s 4-3 loss to SC Freiburg. The club was in fourth place on the Bundesliga table after winning a fourth straight game on March 6, but they’ve fallen down to eighth place with this recent slump.
With all of this in mind, it’s hard to pass on Bayer Leverkusen getting better than even-money odds at +105 on the three-way line. Hoffenheim has allowed two goals or more in five of its last six games and three or more in three of those games; look for Leverkusen’s offense to take advantage of this struggling defense en route to a road win.
Union Berlin (14-9-9) has the longest active unbeaten streak in Bundesliga at the moment with a 4-1-0 record over its last five matches. While that streak includes impressive wins at home over FC Koln and on the road against RB Leipzig, the club’s most recent result was a disappointing 1-1 draw last Friday at home against last-place Greuther Furth. Berlin is 2-0-0 in its last two road games after losing each of its previous four matches away from home.

SC Freiburg (15-10-7) has shaken out of its 3-3-6 midseason slump with a 6-3-1 record over its last 10 games. Freiburg’s offense is red hot over a current 3-1-0 run tin which the club has averaged three goals per game. These two clubs played to a 0-0 draw in Berlin earlier this season, but SC Freiburg’s recent form on offense and home pitch advantage in this one should give them the edge over Union Berlin.
FC Koln (14-10-8) extended its current winning streak to four straight games with a 4-1 road win over FC Augsburg on Saturday. Koln has outscored its opponents 13-5 during this 4-0-0 run, scoring no fewer than three goals in all four matches while allowing one goal or less in each of its last three wins.
VfL Wolfsburg (11-5-16) played to a 1-1 draw against against lowly VfB Stuttgart on the road last Saturday. Wolfsburg has been terrible on the road of late with a 1-2-7 record in its last 10 matches away from home. Five of those seven road losses have come by two goals or more. With FC Koln rolling on offense and VfL Wolfsburg playing so poorly on the road, we feel comfortable laying a goal against the spread on Koln in this spot.
