Sunrisers Hyderabad get a chance to shut the door on the Indian Premier League finals hopefuls and solidify its own spot inside the top four when it takes on the Mumbai Indians on Thursday night at Wankhede Stadium.
With a couple of IPL teams watching on nervously, hoping for a chance to sneak into finals, there’s a lot at stake here, especially considering the ability to host a home final is also in play.
Hyderabad is in a strong position at this stage of the season, thanks largely to a player many expect to be named the player of the tournament — David Warner.
The former Australian opener with a point to prove has had an incredible campaign in his return to the international scene, with numbers that have to be seen to be believed. His last 10 innings reads: 81, 37, 57, 67, 50, 51, 70, 15, 10, 100.
That platform at the top of the order, with his consistently-high strike rate, has given his side the opportunity to attack the later overs and covered over some cracks in the middle order.
But the big numbers stop here. David Warner, much to the devastation of Sunrisers fans, has played his last game for the tournament, leaving India to focus on Australia’s 2019 ICC ODI World Cup bid.
The last time these two sides met, young quick Alzarri Joseph made IPL history on debut for Mumbai, taking 6/12 from 3.4 overs.
If his side is to quell Warner, Williamson and the Hyderabad top order, he may need to deliver the goods again.
Let’s take a look at where the value lies for punters.

Evin Lewis @ +350
The West Indian opener has been barely used in the Indians 2019 IPL campaign, but has played the last two games, scoring 32 and 15 batting at number three.
Given Lewis is either going to open or bat at number three again, he’s going to provide value for punters that want to take him on for the most runs for Mumbai.
When in form, Lewis is actually one of the most explosive T20 hitters in the world and if he’s able to spend more than 5 overs at the crease, he could go very big in an attempt to prove his worth.
Kane Williamson @ +350
With Warner gone, it’s going to be up to Sunrisers captain Kane Williamson to pick up the slack.
Williamson may not be known as a blazing T20 hitter, but he is still one of the best batsmen in the world in every format and knows how to take advantage of small boundaries, whether its along the ground or in the air.
In six innings at IPL 2019 so far, Williamson has failed to top 15 — we expect that to change and for Williamson to enjoy the responsibility Warner’s absence creates.
Mumbai to win: -158.73 at Nags.bet
Mumbai have more to play for in this game and the bookies know it, installing them as a pretty big favourite in head-to-head betting.
The Sunrisers will like to prove they can win without Warner, but we don’t think they have the depth of talent to replace him at the top of the order.
